A proposal currently being visited in the State Assembly would would lower the legal blood alcohol content from .08 to .05 for a DUI arrest. It would also lower the limit for aggravated driving while intoxicated from .18 to .12 percent.
The topic has been visited before by the Assembly as early as this year and is currently under consideration by the Senate Transportation Committee.
The National Transportation Safety Board has been recommending the change for years.
Some critics of the proposal say lowering the limit to .05 could take away from the severity of a DWI charge.
