A priest who served in the campus ministries at both Cornell University and Ithaca College for more than 10 years is now being accused of sexual abusing a minor more than 40 years ago.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester announced that the accused is Reverend Carsten Martensen, a Jesuit priest who has served at both Cornell and Ithaca College since 2007.
The incidents reportedly occurred in the 1970’s, when he was not employed with either college.
School representatives say all of Martensen’s privileges have been temporarily revoked.
The Northeast Province of the Jesuits has also temporarily suspended him from all current assignments and public ministry while investigation into the allegation continues.
