Price Chopper Reminding Customers of Year-Round Safe Medication Disposal

Price Chopper and Market 32 Grocery stores are reminding their customers of the available year-round safe medication disposal program available at pharmacies located within the stores. The company says the kiosks offer a safe and convenient year-round drug disposal service.

Patrons may access the kiosk located near the pharmacy and return any expired, unused or unwanted medications during pharmacy hours, no questions asked. The kiosks were installed in 2023 and the company says they have taken back almost 3,000 pounds of medications.

“Prescription and over-the-counter medications hold the power to heal but can also cause great harm if they aren’t used as prescribed or intended, are past their expiration date, or fall into the hands of someone they aren’t intended for,” said Price Chopper/Market 32 President Blaine Bringhurst. “Expanding access to safe disposal programs is one of many ways Price Chopper/Market 32 proudly takes an active role in encouraging healthy outcomes for our communities.”

The kiosks are installed with an equipped latch that allows patrons to open and insert medications while also preventing the removal of items that have already been placed inside. Price Chopper and Market 32 says unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications, pet medications are accepted.

Any illegal drugs, thermometers, medical devices and needles are not accepted.
