Price Chopper and Market32 Begin Local Food Pantry Drive – To Benefit Cortland Loaves & Fishes and Groton Community Cupboard
Both Price Chopper and Market32 grocery stores have begun their campaign to support local food pantries throughout their service area as part of Hunger Action Month. Now through September 22nd, shoppers may purchase a bag that contains several PICS store brand items for $10 that will go towards a local food pantry and help those in need.
For the Price Chopper on Route 13 in Cortlandville, bags purchased will go to both the Cortland Loaves & Fishes and the Groton Community Cupboard. Each bag contains items that are most needed including a 16-ounce box of macaroni, 16-ounce jar of peanut butter, 10.5 ounce can of chicken noodle soup, 5-ounce can of tune, 15.5 ounce can of kidney beans, and 5-ounce can of chunk chicken.
“Local food pantries in communities across the nation are currently providing assistance at some of the highest service levels they have seen in decades, with many serving as many families in a week as they previously served in a month,” said Pam Cerrone, Price Chopper/Market 32 director of community relations. “Our guests always respond very generously to help meet the needs of their communities. We’re happy to help support local food pantries with our food drive.”
Shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase the bags at a display located at the front of the store.
