Powerful Storm Rips Apart Barn, Trees, and Power Lines in Tompkins County

Yesterday evening in Tompkins County, powerful storms swept through causing serious damage to areas within the county. The end result of the storms was uprooted trees, down power lines, and damaged buildings.

Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response reported flooded streets within the City of Ithaca and significant property damage being reported in Varna and Ellis Hollow areas of the Town of Dryden, along with the Town of Enfield.

In the area of Hayts and Sheffield Road, a barn and other structures were ripped apart.

NYSEG reported due to the storms there were sporadic power outages affecting about 300 customers.

No injuries have been reported due to the storms.
