The United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a public health alert regarding poultry and meat products containing FDA regulated corn starch. A recall has been announced regarding the alert due to an undeclared allergen, specifically milk.

FSIS and FDA are coordinating on the recalled corn starch and are working together to determine the extent of the distribution of the corn starch to other establishments. The recall focuses on chicken and pork tamale products, but it is believed that additional meat and poultry products will be affected by the FDA-regulated corn starch.

“There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider.” FSIS said in a statement.
