City of Cortland Police officers responded to a disturbance call yesterday afternoon (January 27th) around 3:15 at 4 Brown Avenue in Cortland.
Robert McKeen, age 35, of 208 East Cortland Street in Groton, allegedly struck a 35 year old man in the face with a claw hammer. McKeen, who police say was intoxicated, accused the other man of staring at him, leading to the assault.
McKeen was arrested by Cortland police and charged with two felonies – assault in the 2nd degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd Degree.
McKeen was arraigned and sent to the Cortland County Jail.
He is scheduled to appear in City Court again this afternoon (Jan. 28) at 1.
