The name of the person killed in a four-car fatal accident in Newfield Wednesday has been released.
Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies say shortly before 4 o’clock they responded to Route 13 between Decker Road and Millard Hill Road for four car crash with injuries.
Two of the vehicles collided head on, and three people were trapped inside their cars.
One woman, 31-year-old Tracey Snyder of Newfield, was pronounced dead on the scene.
A passenger in Snyder’s car, 46-year-old Gary Macrabie, also of Newfield was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital in Pennsylvania.
53-year-old Sharon Darlow of Ithaca, who was in the other car, was also airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital. Macrabie and Darlow are listed in critical condition today.
The investigation revealed that Snyder’s car was headed southbound on Route 13. She struck another car and then entered the northbound lanes where the fatal collision occurred. Police do not know what caused her to lose control.
The investigation is on-going.
