Update: Missing Spafford Man Found Dead, Police Don’t Suspect Foul Play

A 33-year-old man reported missing Thursday by his family has been found dead in a wooded area behind his home in Spafford.

Thomas J. Poppenger was last seen shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday. State Police said Poppenger was seen leaving a residence on Shamrock Road in the Town of Spafford on foot.

State Police don’t suspect any foul play in his death.

State Police are seeking the public’s help locating a 33-year-old man who went missing Thursday in Onondaga County.

Thomas J. Poppenger was reported missing Thursday by family members.

He was last seen shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday. State Police said Poppenger was seen leaving a residence on Shamrock Road in the town of Spafford on foot.

Poppenger is described as a 6-foot-2-inch tall white man weighing about 180 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing black shorts, a red shirt, and sandals.

Anyone with information on Poppenger’s whereabouts is asked to contact the New York State Police at 315-366-6000.
