Sheriffs Arrest 17-Year-Old In String Of Cortlandville Burglaries

A 17-year-old male was arrested by Cortland County Sheriffs on Friday (February 1) in connection with multiple burglaries that occurred in the Town of Cortlandville during the evening hours of January 9th.

The Sheriffs Office says the defendant broke into the Coffee Mania on State Route 222, where he stole an undisclosed amount of money and other items.

On that same date, Sheriffs say the male also tried to break into Doug’s Powersports on Route 281. He couldn’t get in, but did $1,800 worth of damage to the doorway.

He then moved on and broke into the Grace Christian Fellowship on Fisher Avenue, where nothing was reported stolen or damaged.

The unnamed 17-year-old was arrested on Friday at his residence on Homer Avenue in Cortland.

He was arraigned in the Town of Cortlandville Court, where he was expected to reappear on Monday (February 4).

Police say investigations are ongoing and additional arrests are pending.
