On this morning’s Happening in Homer segment:
Trustee Patrick Finkbeiner spoke at-length about several ongoing projects and also some exciting possibilities in the future.
He said the village has a good chance of winning funds under the state Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI).
“It’s the same thing Cortland got four years ago,” said Finkbeiner. “We have major plans for the downtown area and it would go a long way to get the $10 million.”
Blueprints include an extended boardwalk along the East Tioughnioga River that would couple with the Route 11 Linear Park already underway.
New restaurants; another live music venue or art theatre; maybe even a pharmacy or a convenient care medical center — these are just a few potential attractions that would be possible in the village under DRI support.
Finkbeiner is also hopeful for a dog park, which would be the first and only in the entire county.
