On today’s Meet Cortland County segment:
Separate interviews with Anthony Brindisi and Rep. Claudia Tenney.
Both reflected on their contest for New York’s 22nd Congressional District, which came to an end this week after more than 100 days in state supreme court. Tenney was declared the winner by less than 0.5% of the vote.
Brindisi had previously asked for a full recount, citing new state laws that weren’t yet effective in November but now require that automatically when margins are this close.
Justice Scott DelConte denied that request and ordered certification of Tenney’s victory. Instead of appealing further, Brindisi conceded the race and proceeded with the official transfer of power.
Tenney thanked Brindisi for his cooperation and courtship during this process.
She swore in Thursday on Capitol Hill — Speaker Nancy Pelosi administered the oath in an otherwise empty House chambers.
