A truck that police say was going too fast for the rainy, windy morning, went off I-81 at the Cortland exit – exit 11, at about 6:15 Tuesday morning.
The driver was not hurt in the crash and was identified by the Cortland County Sheriff’s office as Carlos Gil-Taveras, 39, of Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
The truck damaged about 400-feet of guiderail according to police.
The wreckage took about four hours to clear.
Cortland City Police and Fire, TLC Ambulance, the DOT and DEC and Rick and Rich Towing provided assistance.
Gil-Taveras was ticketed for unsafe speed.
