Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr Both Add New U.S. Dates To Summer Tours

Surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr show absolutely no sign of slowing down — and 55 summers since the “Fab Four” barnstormed across North America for the first time — the two former bandmates will be back. McCartney’s new “Freshen Up” tour has just added a June 29th gig at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, and Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band has just rolled out an August 28th date at Oakland, California’s Paramount Theatre.

2019 marks the 30th year since the first All Starr Band hit the road in celebration of Ringo’s then newfound sobriety. During his recent chat with Dan Rather on his AXS TV show The Big Interview, three decades after becoming a solo touring act — Ringo was asked what made him want to finally become a bandleader: “Well, because of the Beatles and that, y’know, I am the guy. It’s Ringo and the All Starrs. But I play with all these other guys — Dr, John, Joe Walsh, Billy Preston, Clarence (Clemons) — I thought that would be good, I’d have big Clarence to bump up against. . . And we were all just boogying (laughter) away. I love to be in a band. I’m a band guy.”
