State Police report one arrest from their Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day weekend DWI patrols.
At about 12:20 am Friday, officers arrested Caleb Chaires, 22, of Dryden after other drivers called 911 to report his driving on Route 38. Police soon spotted him leaving a home on Chaffee Road.
We’re told that the visit violated an order of protection and they found he had a previous DWI conviction within 10 years. He faces new DWI and criminal contempt charges.
Troopers in Troop “C” that surrounds Cortland County removed a total of nine impaired drivers off the roadways. The enforcement initiative ran from Friday, February 11 through Monday, February 14.
The STOP – DWI campaign is funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and utilizes increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints to deter, identify and arrest impaired drivers.
