Parole Visit Surprise, Student Accused Of Fighting With Police

Two arrests to report from Cortland Police:

State Parole officers found a drug packaging operation during a visit Wednesday to the apartment of a parolee.

Cortland Police say Michael Rogers, 49, was charged with Using Drug Paraphernalia and felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Lt. Rick Troyer says Parole Officers found 10 grams of “bath salts,” Oxycodone and other pills, Suboxone film strips, a scale and baggies for packaging.

Rogers is in the Cortland County Jail awaiting court Friday.


A SUNY Cortland student was arrested Thursday morning at 1 am for disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and using someone else’s driver’s license.

Cortland Police say Jake Gursaly, 19, was trying to fight several people on Tompkins Street, then fought with officers during his arrest.

Gursaly’s also accused of ripping an officer’s uniform pants.

He’s to be arraigned Thursday according to police.
