New York State Senator Lea Webbs Office says over 2,000 Valentines Day cards were given to nursing homes in Broome, Cortland and Tompkins counties. The Valentines were made by students in schools across New York Senate District 52; it was part of Webb’s first annual Valentine’s Cards for Seniors Drive.

There were over 30 schools and community organizations who participated in the first annual event. The cards made it to 22 nursing homes within the district.

“A simple act of kindness, like a handmade card, can make a significant difference, especially for our seniors, who often feel isolated around holidays,” said Senator Lea Webb.
