Opening of HEAP Delayed to November 17th, County Says

The Cortland County Department of Social Services (DSS) has issued a correction to their release from October 17th regarding the Home Energy Assistance Program better known as HEAP. According to DSS, the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance says the opening of regular HEAP has now been delayed to November 17th.

The delayed date to November 17th is tentative and could possibly change depending on further information related to the ongoing federal shutdown. Applications may be submitted for HEAP once it opens online, HERE, or by calling (607) 428-5400 to obtain a paper application.

DSS says residents do not need to visit their office to apply.
