Around noon on Tuesday, July 9th, emergency personnel responded to the area of 56 North West Street (Route 281) in the Village of Homer for a two vehicle crash with one vehicle on its roof.

The crash had caused a power distribution in the area as one vehicle smashed through a power pole. Homer Police Chief Pitman tells X101 News a dark colored Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound on North West Street when it rear-ended another vehicle, a large Chevy pickup who was also traveling northbound.

The Jeep then crashed into and through a power pole before it then rolled over before coming to rest at 56 N. West Street in Homer. The operator of the Jeep, a 43 year old male from Homer, was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

North West Street (Route 281) remained closed for a few hours until crews from National Grid were able to remove the damaged utility pole.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Homer Police.
