One Taken to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center Following Single-Vehicle Crash on Route 41

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says one person was transported with non-life threatening injuries following a single vehicle crash early Wednesday morning. Homer Fire, TLC Ambulance, and the Sheriff’s Office were dispatched just before 1 in the morning to Route 41 near the intersection of Houghton Hill Road  in the Town of Homer for a vehicle crash with the occupant stuck inside.

Cortland County 9-1-1 Dispatch relayed information to responding emergency personnel the vehicle was smoking and possibly on fire with the occupant trapped inside. An officer on scene was able to free the driver and informed dispatch that there was no fire.

The Sheriff’s Office says an investigation determined the driver of the vehicle was headed southbound on Route 41 when they lost control of their vehicle and went off the road and into a ditch. This then caused the vehicle to overturn.

TLC transported the driver to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for further treatment.
