Yesterday morning around 10:15 in the Town of Homer, the Homer Fire Department, TLC Ambulance, and New York State Police responded to a vehicle crash of a dump truck that went off the road on I81 South and into a wooded area.
An investigation by State Police found the dump truck was traveling south on I81 when the vehicle lost a front tire. The operator then lost control of the vehicle and exited off the highway, went over an embankment and rolled before the vehicle struck a fence and trees.
The operator of the vehicle was identified by State Police as 69 year old Kevin A. Pierce of Moravia. Pierce was transported to Upstate University Hospital via TLC Ambulance for chest pains.
The dump truck is owned by Robinsons Concrete Inc from Auburn and was reportedly carrying 19 tons of stone.
