One Person Arrested Following Crash on Homer Ave. Monday Afternoon
Around 2:50 Monday afternoon, Cortland Fire, TLC Ambulance, and Cortland Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Homer Ave. near Stockton Place in the City of Cortland. Initial reports were of a Car vs. Pedestrian, but arriving on scene, emergency personnel found a two-vehicle crash involving a lifted pickup and a standard pickup truck in the northbound lanes of Homer Ave. Dryden Ambulance also responded to the scene for mutual aid.
Cortland Fire Chief Friedman told X101 News the driver of the lifted pickup was found unresponsive underneath his vehicle. He says the driver possibly had a medical issue when getting out of his vehicle after the crash. A helicopter was originally called, but later canceled. Deputy Chief for the City of Cortland Police Department, Cheyenne Cute, told X101 News the driver of the lifted pickup truck, 34 year old Brandon Moffitt, was arrested for impairment due to drugs as a result of an investigation by Cortland Police.
The operator of the lifted pick-up truck was transported via TLC to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for further treatment. The driver of the second vehicle, also a pickup, was evaluated on scene, but not transported.
Homer Ave. was shut down between West Main Street and Wheeler Ave. while emergency crews were on scene.
