Around 2:15 pm on Saturday, August 19th, Troopers from the New York State Police at Homer, along with Cortlandville Fire and TLC Ambulance, responded to a reported crash involving a motorhome on I81 northbound near exit 12 (Homer).
Reports to 9-1-1 dispatch came in of a motor home falling off the bridge over I81, State Police later said those reports were incorrect.
An investigation conducted by Troopers found that 78 year old Anthony M. Ciesla of Bernhards Bay NY, was traveling northbound on I81 just before the exit. He then traveled off the roadway and went through grass where he then struck a concrete bridge and came to rest on the hill under the bridge.
The impact of the crash split the mobile home into two pieces. Ciesla was transported by TLC to Upstate Medical Center for treatment of lower body injuries. No one else was inside the vehicle.
