One Charged With DWI After Officer Finds Vehicle Parked on Tompkins Street

It was just after three in the morning on Sunday, February 25th, when an officer from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office saw a vehicle parked on Tompkins Street with their hazard lights on in the City of Cortland. The officer believed the vehicle was potentially disabled and stopped to conduct a welfare check.

As the officer interviewed the operator of the vehicle, identified as 24 year old Christopher A. DeJohn of Windsor New York, it was determined that DeJohn was driving drunk.

Officers arrested and charged DeJohn with DWI, and DWI with .08% or more of alcohol, both Misdemeanors. He was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for processing and later released on his own recognizance.

DeJohn is due in Cortland City Court next month.
