One Arrested Following Erratic Driving Complaint on I81 in Cortlandville
Around 8:50pm on Tuesday, July 15th, State Police on I81 were alerted by Cortland County 9-1-1 Dispatch of a reported erratic driver on I81 North. County 9-1-1 told State Police they received a call from another driver of a vehicle driving at high speeds on the highway. A Trooper on I81 observed the vehicle speeding as it approached their vehicle.
The Trooper pulled the vehicle over and began an investigation regarding the traffic complaint of erratic driving. State Police say Troopers ultimately decided to tow the vehicle. They then asked the passenger in the vehicle, 26 year old Naszeem Jayquelle of Syracuse, to step out of the vehicle. Jayquelle refused to do so and rolled the window up and locked the doors to the vehicle, State Police say.
After multiple attempts asking Jayquelle to get out of the vehicle with him refusing, Troopers broke the window and arrested him. He was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd, a Misdemeanor. Jayquelle was taken to the State Police Barracks in Homer for processing and then issued an appearance ticket. He is due in Cortlandville Town Court in September.
