One Airlifted After Motorcycle Accident on Route 11 in Town of Homer

Around 1:10 in the afternoon on Saturday July 21st, a call came in of a motor vehicle crash involving a car and a motorcycle with the operator of the motorcycle laying on the ground unconscious.


Emergency crews responded quickly to the area of Route 11 and Little York Crossing. Homer and Cortlandville Fire Departments, along with the Cortland County Sheriff and TLC Ambulance responded to the scene.

A helicopter was requested to the scene after personnel reported the driver of the motorcycle was bleeding from the head and remained unconscious. Mercy Flight accepted the request and had responded from Rome, NY in about 20 minutes.

Route 11 was closed down from Preble Road to Sessions Hill Road as crews worked to stabilize the driver.

They were airlifted from a landing zone at New Hope View Farm to a regional trauma center. Their current condition is unknown at this time.

Route 11 was reopened around 2:40 in the afternoon.
