SUNY Cortland women’s lacrosse advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III playoffs on Sunday (May 9), cruising by host Rhodes College, 23-12, down in Memphis, TN.
Senior Hannah Lorenzen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) scored 10 goals — a playoff record for the team — adding one assist for 11 points.
Additionally, senior Cecilia Procopio (Syracuse/West Genesee) became the 49th player in program history to surpass 100 career points. Senior goalie Paige Potter (Cortland) turned aside 10 shots.
Lorenzen’s 10 goals tied her for the second-most in a game in Cortland history and made her the 31st player in program history to score 100 career goals.
The nationally 13th-ranked Red Dragons won their 14th straight game and improve to 14-1 on the season.
They advance to a third round matchup against 10th-ranked and undefeated Messiah College in Colby, Maine.
That game is set for next Saturday at 2 pm.
