The state’s new fiscal year begins Saturday, April 1. WXHC checked with our State Senator, James Seward as the deadline for a new state budget nears.
Mr. Seward identified a couple of issues holding up a final agreement between the legislature and the governor.
One is the Governor’s proposal to raise the age, to let more criminal cases involving 16 and 17-year olds go to Family Court. Click below to hear more of Senator Seward’s thoughts on the issue.
Seward noted that the Governor didn’t offer money to pay for the extra staff and workload that would be transferred to the counties by this move.
