Office For Aging Seeking Nominations For Annual Senior Citizen of the Year
Nominations are once again being sought for the Cortland County Office for Aging’s annual Senior Citizen of the Year award. According to Cortland County Public Information Officer, Savannah Hempstead, the award will honor a county resident who is 60 years of age or older and stands out in the community for ongoing devotion of time and talent in a variety of areas, and receives no remuneration for the contributions.
All nominations will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges, who will select a winner. The winner will be announced during the Office for Aging’s Older Americans Month celebration. A date will be scheduled at a later time. Hempstead says the senior citizen nominated does not need to be a member of a club, senior center, or other organization to be eligible for the award.
Applications are due by March 6 and may be submitted online. You can find a link on our website. Candidates must be nominated by an individual or a group and cannot nominate themselves.
More information and an application may be obtained from the Office for Aging by calling (607) 753-5060.
