Wanda Jean (Marion) Grennell, age 97 of Brooktondale, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at her home.
Born April 27, 1924 in Ithaca, NY she was the daughter of the late Verne and Winifred Seely Marion and wife of the late Lawrence S. Grennell who she married on November 11, 1943. Everyone who knew Wanda found a gentle and strong woman dedicated to her Lord and to her family. While she encouraged all of us to reach our highest potential, she always supported us even when we failed. The loss of her husband, Lawrence, in 1967, with a young family presented challenges that she met through prayer and the support of a loving family. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her but comforted by the promises of the scripture.
Wanda is survived by her children, Paul (Shirley) Grennell, Gerald (Iva) Grennell, Bruce (Barb) Grennell, Martha Grennell (Don) Metcalf and Janet (Leslie) Grennell; 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition, she was predeceased by her son, Michael Grennell; daughter in law, Diane Shaw Grennell and brothers and sisters, Maurice Marion, Clyde Marion, Russell Marion, Carrie Marion Besemer and Erma Marion Carnes.
There will be a private graveside service in South Hill Cemetery, Coddington Rd., Ithaca at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to Christ Chapel, 160 Graham Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850 or to a charity of your choice.
