Obituary of Susan Hubbard


Susan F. Hubbard (Sue/Susie) passed away unexpectedly at her home on November 27th, 2019 at the age of 57.

Susan is predeceased by her Brother, Ken Holl.

Susan is survived by her loving Husband, Steven Hubbard of 39 years, parents Ira and Shirley Holl, sister Pat (Mike) Ryan, brother Steve (Mary) Holl, her son John (Nakia) Hubbard and daughter Stacie (Stephen) Young, and 4 granddaughters, Kaia, MacKenzie, Kendall and Khloie and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Susan is lovingly remembered by her love and devotion to her family and dog rescue. Susan and Kimberly Hubbard started Hubbard’s Hounds Dog Rescue in March of 2008 where they have saved more than 1,500 hundred dogs, from puppies to senior dogs. Susan was known for her heart of gold and always wanting to help people or animals. She has adopted many dogs over the years. She currently has her dogs, Abby and Dottie and cat Simba.

Susan was born in Waco, Texas on August 11th, 1962. She graduated from Homer Senior High School in 1980 and continued with collage education at TC3, Ithaca College and University of Phoenix where she completed her MBA in Accounting. She enjoyed continuous learning, primarily focusing on Business Management/Accounting. She was employed at Walden Place in Cortland, NY where she loved helping and visiting the residence. She previously was employed at Crossroads Veterinary Clinic where she continued helping animals.

Susan enjoyed watching her grandchildren play numerous sports, working on her dog rescue, spending Friday nights with her husband and parents.

The visitation will be held at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Avenue, Cortland, NY on December 3rd, 2019. Calling hours from 3pm-5pm. The funeral service will follow immediately after at 5pm, a reception will take place at Scott United Methodist Church, 6816 State Route 41, Scott, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to donations to Hubbard’s Hounds, 6176 Sunnyside Drive, Homer, NY.
