Steven John Ayres, 60, of Lansing, passed away on April 17, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a period of declining health.
Steven was born on May 23, 1964 in Auburn, a son of the late Lola Jean (Calhoun) and Howard D. Ayres, Sr. He had resided both locally and in North Carolina throughout his life, and was well regarded at the Finger Lakes Reuse Center in Ithaca where he assisted in salvage operations. Steve had also worked for many years at the Jeff Cook Farm.
He is survived by his extended Calhoun and Ayres families.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2024 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Avenue, Groton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM on May 16, preceding the service. Private interment will be in Lansingville Cemetery.
