Stanley E. Briggs, 87, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.
Stanley was born in Penn Yan, NY, on March 4, 1936, one of 12 children born to Howard and Reita Wallace Briggs. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Lapeer. Stanley proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1961. He retired from Tractor Supply Company in 2018 after many years of service. Stanley was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Layla Allen Briggs; and his children, Barry and Bruce Briggs, both of Marathon, Brian (Jennifer) Briggs of Colchester IL, and Becky Briggs of Marathon. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Hunter and Austin Briggs; a brother, David (Kay) Briggs of Lakeland, FL; a sister, Erma Mullins of Penn Yan; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister.
