Mrs. Shirley H. Morse, 89, of Cortland, passed away Sept 10, 2023 in Otisco at her son Michael’s home, where she resided for the past few months of her life. Born July 14, 1934 in Cortland, Shirley was the daughter of George and Caroline Small Hauck and was an area resident her entire life.
Shirley was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and retired from Verizon. Prior to Verizon she was employed by New York Telephone, Brockway Motors and Cortland Corset Company. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband; Gerald Morse in 2010.
Survivors include; two daughters; Sharon Blood of Groton, Mass and Susan (Roger) Soule of Cortland two sons; Michael (Kathleen) Morse of Otisco and Donald (Corena) Morse of Virgil., a sister; Phyllis Hauck of Cortland and 13 grandchildren; Richard Blood, Meghan Blood-Griffin, Cassondra Morse, Martin Soule, Nathaniel Morse, Matthew Blood, Britt Morse, Kristina Welsh, Kurtis Morse, Clint Morse Michelle Mahoney, Garret Morse and Austin Soule., as well as 14 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Zareski serving as celebrant. The Christian Rite of Committal and Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Contributions in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
