Sharon Elizabeth Forbes, 76, of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away May 29, 2023 with family by her side.
She was predeceased in death by her parents Richard and Regina Oliver, her loving husband of 55 years, Jim Forbes, and several lifelong friends.
She is survived by daughters, Tamara Hyde and Rebecca Babilon (John); sons, Robert Forbes and Joel Forbes (Celeste Ogburn); and seven grandchildren, Nicole Hyde, Johnny and Luke Babilon, MacKenzie, Jameson, Taryn Forbes and Meerah Forbes. She is also survived by siblings, Stephen Oliver (Kathy) and David Oliver (Val); and several nieces and nephews.
Sharon spent most of her life in Cortland, NY graduating from Cortland High School, in 1964 and furthered her education in accounting at TC3. Sharon worked at Cortland Savings Bank for 30 years, while raising her children.
In her spare time, she enjoyed horseback riding, gardening, swimming, gambling, football and all things sun-related. Travel was very important to both Sharon and Jim, they would travel and vacation often with family. Gatherings were especially important to Sharon, she enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren, children, friends and of course the Forbes Family.
A memorial service will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church on Wednesday June 14, 2023 at 10:00am, located at 14 Copeland Avenue in Homer, NY 13077. A reception will be held thereafter at the church, with refreshments; please bring all your love and stories.
