Obituary of Sharon A. Mullins


SHARON A. “Sam” MULLINS, age 53, of Canaan Road, Brooktondale, NY passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Hospicare Residence after a six month battle with pancreatic cancer. Born July 8, 1961 in New London, CT, she was a daughter of Gloria Tiffany Mullins of Waterford, CT and the late Francis G. Mullins.

Sharon graduated from Waterford High School in 1979; from Central CT State University in 1984 with a BS in Physical Education and received her MS in Physical Education from Ithaca College in 1991. She served as an assistant softball coach at Ithaca College and began her teaching career in Spencer-VanEtten. In 1988, she began a 27 year career at Newark Valley High School where she was a physical educator, coach and most recently Athletic Director. She enjoyed several outdoor activities including hiking, biking, cross country skiing and walks with her beloved dogs.

Survivors include her mother, Gloria Tiffany Mullins of Waterford, CT; her siblings, James T. Mullins of Newfield, NY, Karen A. Mullins of Coventry, CT, Robert J. (Amy) Mullins of Waterford and Daniel G. Mullins of Waterford; her best friend, Janine Bennett and Sharon’s God Child, Taylor Bennett. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins and one great-niece.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Wheat officiating. Burial will be in CT. Friends are invited to call from 1 to 2 PM, Saturday at the funeral home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY.
