Obituary of Robert F. Dexter

Robert F. Dexter, 74, son of Francis R and Helen Montany Dexter, passed away November 13, 2024 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, Cortland, NY. “Bob” came to Cortland in 1988. He resided at the Dexter family home on 60 Elm Street. During his time in Cortland he worked for the Highgate Nursing Home and the J.M. Murray Center where he was cited as a model employee.

He is survived by his sister Dianne Dexter of Los Angeles and first cousins on the Dexter side: Patrick, Mary, Ann, Margaret, Jere, Mike and Kathleen along with Montany first cousins James, Michael, David and John as well as numerous second and third generation cousins.

Bob was admired for his work ethic and treasured for his thoughtfulness and sense of humor. He was a very tall man with a very kind heart and many referred to him as our gentle giant. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, November 20 from 4 to 6 pm from the Chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home 69 N. Main St., Cortland, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church on Thursday November 21, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Prayers of committal will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Cortland.
