Robert E. Hale, 93, a resident of the Elizabeth Brewster House, Homer, passed away on May 9, 2023.
He was born November 11, 1929, in Dayton, OH, a son of the late Asa and Irma Halsey Hale.
Bob was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1952 with the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
He retired from R.H. Miller, Homer, after 42 years of service. Bob was also a hobby farmer and flower distributor. He was known for his beautiful gladiolas, selling to florists from all over central New York and earning many awards at the New York State Fair.
Bob and his late wife, Barbara Hale, loved to travel, visiting much of Canada, Europe, Australia and most every state in the United States.
Surviving is his daughter-in-law, Michelle Hale of Cortland; two grandchildren, Rachael Croft of Cortland and Gregory (Kylee) Hale of Unadilla and several great grandchildren,
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara S. Hale in 2019, a son, Joseph R. Hale in 2021; daughter; Nan M. Hale in 1973 and a grandson, Matthew Hale in 2005.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Interment in Atwater Cemetery, Homer, will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Hale’s name may be directed to the Elizabeth Brewster House Foundation, 41 S. Main St., Homer, NY 13077.
The family would like to say Thank You to the entire staff at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided, as well as Buzz and Maureen at the Elizabeth Brewster House for their care and friendship over the years.
