Robert Allen “Bob” Bruckner, 81, passed away peacefully at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, on June 26, 2023.
Bob was born near Chicago, IL. He married Gail (Warren) in Texas on August 26, 1966, after they met as students at Coe College in Iowa. They were lovingly married for 54 years. Gail passed away in 2020. They will be buried together in Virgil, NY.
A Vietnam War veteran, Bob reached the rank of Major in the U.S. Air Force, serving 16 years. He continued his career as a civilian pilot as he and Gail made their home in New Hampshire. Bob volunteered often at churches and as coach at his children’s school. He and Gail returned to live in Geneva, NY, Gail’s hometown. Bob joined Hydrant Hose Company in 2009, following the example of his father-in-law, Nelson Warren. He volunteered at events and served as chaplain.
Bob and Gail have four children: Daniel, his ex-wife Michele (Gallup) and their children Joshua, Caleb and Benjamin; Matthew, his wife Rebecca (Richner) and their children Grace, Emily and Sarah; John, his wife Erika (Alexander) and their children Gianella, Braylee and Grady; Elizabeth (Bruckner), her husband Matthew Houle and their daughter Abigail. He is also survived by his sister Carol Tate, as well as his brother-in-law Lyle Warren, who is married to Nina (Tiano). He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Bruckner and Helen Woods.
A drop-in memorial reception will be held at Hydrant Hose Fire Hall in Geneva, NY, on Saturday, July 29 from 1–3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Geneva’s Hydrant Hose Co. No. 1.
