Rae Marie Saddlemire, of Cortland, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center after a brief illness. Friends and family mourn her loss and gratefully celebrate the life she shared with them.
Rae Marie was a lifelong resident of Cortland and a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church. She worked as a Legal Secretary in the Patent Department at Smith Corona, later working many years as Receptionist at Regina’s Hair Salon and finally, retired from Cortland Jr. Sr. High School, where she was employed as a Teacher’s Aide.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband; Dale and daughter; Michelle (Jeffrey) Alvord of Vestal; her grandson; Justin Alvord of Vestal and sister in law; Betsy Spada of Cortland as well as a niece, nephew and large extended family. In addition to her parents, Raymond and Mary Spada; Rae Marie was preceded in death by her brother; Robert Spada.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, The Christian Rite of Burial and Committal will be held privately in Vestal Hills, Vestal, N.Y. at a later date. The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. in the Chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home, Cortland, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
