Patricia Gail (Wall) Buchholz, also known as Pat, passed away on June 10, 2023 at the age of 79 in Hornell, NY.
Pat was born on March 25, 1944 in Cortland. She was the daughter of Stanton and Eloise Wall, and was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Betty Allen. Pat is survived by her sister Beverly Johnson, her daughter Kristin Buchholz (partner Dan Allen,) her son Matt Buchholz (wife Amy Bordwell-Buchholz,) her grandchildren Ada Griffin, Riley Allen, Ryan, Holly, and Jack Buchholz, and Brooklynn and Landon Bordwell, Steve Butts and his family, along with many loving family and friends.
Pat grew up on a farm and later lived on Meadow Drive in the village of Homer. She was a dedicated mother who worked tirelessly to raise her two children on her own in Fairport, NY. She was a paralegal, customer service representative, and contract administrator in Rochester, where she was known for her hard work and dedication to her job. Pat attended Homer High School and went on to study Business at Alfred State College and RIT. She completed her degree while she was a full-time employee and a single parent. Her grit and determination left a lasting impression on her children.
Pat also valued charity and service work. She volunteered as a mentor and later with dogs, adopting a dog named Annie who became her best friend for many years. After Pat’s father passed away, she reconnected with her childhood friend Steve Butts, who invited her to join him on the dairy farm back in Homer. They traveled through New England and Hawaii together, had many adventures living on the farm, and enjoyed the beauty of the finger lakes region.
Pat loved animals, living on the farm, spending time with family at Skaneateles lake, boat rides, swimming, bike riding, walking & hiking outdoors, identifying and feeding birds, and traveling. She had an adventurous spirit, a kind heart, and at one point, way too many cats. Pat liked to drive fast and often said that she missed her calling as a racecar driver. Pat worshipped and sang in the choir at Homer Congregational Church and cherished her church community there.
A service in memory of Pat will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Donald Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. Prayers of committal will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to SNAP of Central NY or the SPCA in Pat’s name would be appreciated.
