Obituary of Muriel A. Brooks


Muriel A. Brooks, 92, of East Homer, passed away following an extended illness on January 16, 2024.

A lifelong Homer resident, she was born December 17, 1931, a daughter of the late Manley and Hazel Shearer Clark and was a 1949 graduate of Homer High School.

Muriel was a longtime and active member of the East Homer – Truxton United Methodist Church, a 70+ year member of the East Homer Albright Grange #440, and as a Cortland County 4-H Club Leader.

Muriel and her husband Richard owned and operated Bud Ranch Farms. Muriel enjoyed watching newborn calves under her care turn into top producing registered Holstein cows. Always ready with coffee, cake or pies for anyone stopping at the farm to purchase cattle or just to visit around the kitchen table.

Surviving are her two children, Clinton S. (Brenda) Brooks of Homer and Suzanne M. (David) Williams of Homedale, ID; her grandchildren, Ben (Anna) Brooks; Emily (Christopher) Wilkinson; Steven Williams and Mark (Quincy) Williams. Also surviving are her five great grandchildren, Lois Williams; Maverick and Lilliana Wilkinson; Willow Williams and a great granddaughter due in March; Merici Brooks and her sister, Mary

(Kenneth) Bear of Corning and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Brooks in 2020.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer, with Rev. Hyun Joan Park officiating. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer will be delayed until spring.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 6:00- 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
