Michael D. Homer, 64, of Daisy Hollow Rd., Dryden passed away on December 26, 2021 due to complications of COVID-19.
He was born May 18, 1957 a son of the late H. Dever and Helena Burchfield Homer.
Mike was employed for many years with Suit-Kote, mainly as a truck driver, retiring in July.
He was a former member of the Odessa Fire Department and installed as a member of the Dryden department, where he served as an ambulance driver.
Mike was an active and faithful member of the Patriot Guard Riders, who’s mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. To show respect for fallen heroes, their families, and their communities and to shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protester or group of protesters. Mike was particularly active with the Wreaths across America campaign, placing wreaths on the graves of veterans at several local cemeteries.
Mike is survived by his sons, Michael (Amber); Scott and Gary (Christine Diana); his brother, Robert (Lynn) Homer of Augusta, GA; a sister, Larie (William) Cifaratta of Cortland; his grandchildren, Katelyn Marie; Kayley Jean-Marie; Mackenzie, Madison, Michael Harrison; Gracie, Myah; Diegon; Gramarian; Majohnica; and Reality; his nieces and nephews, Anne Marie (David) Farris; Nicole Riley and Bobby (Shellby) Riley. Also the children of his travel partner; son Stevie (Shannon) Holcomb; and daughter Jaime (Jason) Strickland. Papa also leaves behind Brett; Cassie; JJ; Randa and Madlyn.
In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his sister, Diane and the love of his life and travel partner, Vicki Hammond on November 21, 2021.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/donaldlbarberfuneralhome
The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
