Melissa Renee Brooks, 54, of Maine, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Born on October 24, 1971, in Endicott, New York, Melissa was defined by her outgoing personality, generous spirit, and boundless love for adventure. Unafraid to take chances, she truly lived life on the edge.

She found her greatest joy in tending to her garden and caring for the beautiful plants that surrounded her home, going on spontaneous trips, and camping under the stars. She also held a special place in her heart for all animals, especially the cats she adored.

Melissa is preceded in death by her husband, Andy Brooks, her parents, Bertha Nicholas and Roger Short, her brother Josh Short, and nephew Codi Short.

Melissa is survived by her daughters, Shallena Uhl and Meranda Combs, her granddaughter, Kate Uhl, sisters, Jody Short, Deb Stahl, Jennifer Walvood and brothers, Keith Short and Neal Short. As well as her stepsister Renee Carrier and stepbrother, Tom Walters. Also, many beloved nieces and nephews

All of her family will forever cherish her vibrant energy and kind heart.

A private celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
