Obituary of Maria Y. Spaziani

Maria Y. Spaziani, 90, of Cortland, passed away at her home on Sept 25, 2026. Born Aug 13, 1936 in Badia Sulmona, Italy; Maria was a Cortland resident most of her life. She was employed for many years with the Crescent Corset Co. prior to their acquisition by NCC Industries. Maria was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church and a member of their Altar Society.

She is survived by her son; Franco Spaziani (Ann Marie Capria) of Cortland and her grandchildren; Dominic Spaziani and Julia Spaziani and her sisters; Dora (Alfonso) Leopardi and Egidia Finlay both of Cortland and many nieces and nephews. Maria was preceded in death by her parents; Achille and Rocchetta Burrasca Iacovone, a sister; Anna Faraoni and brother-in-law; Edward Finlay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church. The Christian Rite of Committal and Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. in the Church prior to Mass.
