Margaret L. ‘Peggy’ Neuman, 61, of Homer, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
A lifelong area resident, Peggy was born on March 7, 1962, a daughter of Paul and Margaret Joann Briggs Neuman. She was a 1980 graduate of Homer High School, and a 1984 graduate of Corning Community College with a degree in Nursing.
Peggy’s greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She was the best ‘Yaya,’ playing farm and Captain Jack Sparrow with her grandchildren.
Besides being a devoted mom and ‘Yaya,’ nursing was her greatest passion. She held her first nursing job in Show Low, Arizona before moving back to NY. She was a travel nurse in the non-traditional sense. She held many different nursing positions over the years, learning all that nursing has to offer. Some of her most fond nursing positions were those at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, Cortland Regional Medical Center, Public Health Nursing for Cortland County, and most recently at Tully Hill Treatment & Recovery.
She is survived by her mother, Margaret Joann Neuman of Homer; a daughter, Sarah (Matthew) Button of North Brookfield; her beautiful grandchildren, Carson, Everleigh, Gunnar, and Bryer; her siblings, Connie (Craig) Biviano of Homer, Rick (Marty) Neuman of Vestal, and Theresa Neuman of Homer. Also surviving are her nieces, Kelly, Kaitlyn, and Kiersten, and nephew, Ken, whom she loved so dearly. Peggy leaves behind many close friends including Phil and Jackie, the Connellys, and the Morehouses.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her sister, Cathy Stage, and her son, Phillip J. “PJ” Miller. She now rests in the company of her beloved son, watching over her cherished family.
Calling hours will be held at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer on Sunday August 13, 2023 from 11:00am-1:00 pm, with a memorial service following at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
