Obituary of Malcolm Cedric (Mac) Collins


Malcolm “Mac” Collins, 98, of Etna, NY, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Riverview Manor in Owego.

Born August 19,1924, in West Bangor, NY, he was the son of the late Loanza Peck. He operated Morse Collins, Inc. Lightning Protection Business with his brother for many years. Upon retirement, his passion was traveling around the country with his wife of 48 years, Carol Collins. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent summers living and fishing on Cayuga Lake for over 50 years. Mac enjoyed the outdoors on his 4-wheeler and Kubota tractor.

Mac is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Herb) Schutt, Debbie (Mark) McKane, Sue Collins (Wayne Weller); stepdaughter, Alice (Ralph) Fleury; grandchildren, Lori (Mike) Thorpe, Nichole Tullous, Lynn (Shawn) Brann, Jason (Bronwyn) O’Brien, Brenda Coyle (Chris Beach), Christopher Pratt, Erin Pratt, Joseph (Renee) Fleury, Winter (Phillip) Holton, Tobi (Arnold) Palmeri, Jacob (Laura) Fleury; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Shawn Jessica, Nina, Brinley, Katie, Mackenzie T., Brooke, Joey, Palmer, Clayden, Bentley, Madison, Mackenzie F. and great- great-grandchildren Cooper and Liam. Additionally, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Lois Collins, nieces and nephews, and many close life-long friends.

He was predeceased in death by his wife Carol, mother Loanza, brother Reginald Collins, stepson Robert Holland and his first wife, Mary Jane Collins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. Burial will follow at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends may call from 10:30am – 11:30am prior to the service at the funeral home.
