Lucille M. Lowie, 93, of Cortland, passed away October 1, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born November 26, 1929 in Cortland, Lucille was the daughter of Michael and Ruth Towne Casey.
Lucille was formerly employed at Smith-Corona where she met her future husband, Karol W. Lowie, who predeceased her in 2015. The couple were married for 66 years. She was also employed by Convenient Food Mart and Parker Elementary School where she was employed as a teacher’s aide. Lucille was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a member of Catholic Daughters. She and her family spent many summers on Owasco Lake and enjoyed attending many activities with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her 8 children; Sandra (Gary) Pickett, Dianne Galutz, Barbara (Gary) Hicks, Karol M. (Joan) Lowie, Stephen (Melody) Lowie, Jeffrey (Lori) Lowie, Timothy (Brenda) Lowie and Christopher Lowie, as well as 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Lucille was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Casey of Groton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 6 at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 5 from 6-8 p.m. in the Chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home, 69 N. Main St., Cortland.
