Kathryn “Kay” P. Blanchard, 87, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015, at Crown Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, Cortland, NY.
Mrs. Blanchard was born in Canton, NY on August 9, 1928. She was a retired school teacher from Cincinnatus Central School where she taught business for over 20 years. Prior to that, she taught school at Otselic Valley Central School. She took great pride in the fact that she taught her students how to type on the typewriter and the fact that many of her students would contact her later in life and thank her for the skills they learned in her class as they transitioned to the use of the computer keyboard. She was a member of the Knickerbocker Country Club and enjoyed playing golf. She also loved horses and enjoyed traveling the world.
Her surviving family, including her husband Edgar, who predeceased her on January 29, 1990, have all passed away. However, she leaves behind many close friends, including Derek Raimo, Isabelle Carter, Jean Wood, Elaine Oros, and Todd Knickerbocker. The first person she met in the Cincinnatus area was Henry Knickerbocker and she remained fond of him throughout her life.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service at the Taylor Rural Cemetery on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Palmer Neumeister officiating. There will be no prior calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Kay may be directed to the Community Foundation to Support Education (CFSE), c/o Cincinnatus Central School, 2809 Cincinnatus Rd., Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
