Obituary of Josephine Ackerman
Josephine Ackerman left this earthly realm to be reunited with her husband Charles, and
daughter Joanne. She was a good, tough, fair and outspoken simple woman who never asked
for much, survived on little and raised good children. She worked hard and provided for her
family however possible. Her favorite saying was “Oh Bullshit!” when anyone tried to put one
over on her. She was not a soul to be trifled with and spoke her mind. She worked at many
positions and, also volunteered at the Marathon Food Pantry. She knitted thousands of mittens
and baby caps for donations. She was a mother, a friend, a gardener, a carpenter, a knitter, a
puzzle solver, a cheerleader and mostly someone who tried to make the best life possible for
her family.
She is predeceased by her Husband, Charles Ackerman, son John, and daughter Joanne. She
is survived by daughters Eileen Covey (Ken), Nancy Marino (Lou), Helen Hust (Ron) and Beth
Dockstater (Daniel), son Charles Ackerman (Tracey), and sister Jean Griffin, and sister Dawn
Conway, as well as grandsons and granddaughters and great grandsons and a great
granddaughter. Nothing made her light up more than these future generations and she always
had a smile and a soft spot for them.
She would be most happy if you donated to the Marathon Food Pantry or the Marathon
Volunteer Ambulance Corp as she did not ever want anyone to go hungry or uncared for. Or
instead of a donation, please plant a garden.
A private family burial will be scheduled in the future.
